134Judd BMW: 570 PS strong mountain bolide “Made in Bavaria”
Georg Plasa is the contemplative Warngau in Upper Bavaria, a modest, quiet guy – unless he is sitting at the wheel of a mountain racer. Six times he won the FIA European Hill Climb Championship. The competition is getting tougher, responding Plasa: In a barn in Sufferloh near the Tegernsee lake, the silver bullet was developed for the next mountain racing season: a 570-hp tour racing car based on the BMW 135i with a lot of Formula 1-style high-tech under the Carbon-dress.
In the said barn Muhlweg in Sufferloh one would expect everything but Formula 1-style art technologies for mountain racing EM 2011th about € 500,000 and tens of thousands of hours stuck in 134 Judd; great hopes on the hill-climb championship in 2011 sparked it. But Georg Plasa was always good for surprises. Birthplace: Precisely the barn in Sufferloh that holds a racing garage at its best in themselves.
Plasa silver bullet for 2011 is a tour car. The bullet mobilized thanks to the legendary Judd V8 570 hp, weighs only 748 pounds and ready to run sprints with breathtaking speed rear-wheel drive and non-turbo in 3.1 seconds from 0 to 100 on speed F1-enabled technology wherever you look: transaxle transmission with magnesium housing, closed under-floor with rear diffuser, slick tires, removable multi-function steering wheel, countless car parts made of ultra light and very expensive titanium or carbon fiber.
Plasa is proud. “Only with the help of renowned partners and dedicated employees, our Judd-BMW reality”, including the British from the race tire specialist Avon or Fausto Lettieri from the exhaust supplier Tubistyle from Maranello as young mechanics, CAD engineers and body builder from Plasa six life core team.
The project “134Judd” – derived from the 3.4-liter V8 under the hood of the BMW 1 Series Carbon – not least a financial risk. Why so much money and blood for the time hunting on the mountain, which is not in racing to the most popular activity? Plasa estimates that virtually open rules of the FIA European Championship: Minimum weight 780 pounds, considerably lighter the Plasa BMW Judd achieved only through well-placed ballast. Otherwise, the designers have virtually a free hand.
“There are no gray areas,” said Plasa in terms of tricks that other touring car regulations are often bypassed. In addition, the upper estimates Bayer has always been to race mountain that has to fit here as in the qualifying of the Formula 1 to the point just everything. All the better that the Judd-BMW is faster, even at a mountain with eight percent rise in about five seconds from 100 to 200 km / h – the huge power to weight ratio of only 1.37 kg / PS is thanks.
For comparison, a 1001-hp Bugatti Veyron carries 1.9 kilograms per hp with him. Plasa looking forward to the wild ride with this cannon ball: “In comparison, DTM race car with 1,000 kilograms and 500 hp is better walker.” Good conditions to conquer Sufferloh from the racing world.
